The city is an open-air museum located in Uzbekistan. According to archaeological data, the age of Khiva is over 2500 years. However, before the city was called differently – Heyvak.
The legend about the origin of the ancient Khiva is known. According to him, the founder of the city is Shem, son of Noah from the Bible. He built a city around a well filled with water of remarkable taste. Well worth, to this day. Now it is carefully stored in Ichan – Kale, as a relic. And the ancient legend is passed from generation to generation.
Khiva is a very rich and interesting history of its development. For all the millennia of its existence, it has experienced war, conquest, and the heyday. Previously, it was the capital of ancient Khorezm, which was repeatedly conquered. The number of invaders include Achaemenids, Arabs, Mongols. It was also not just that Khorezm and Amir Timur were given – only after the fifth campaign the state was captured.
The city of Khiva is a very ancient city, which includes 2 cities: Ichan – Kala and Dishan – Kala, i.e. inner and outer city. Yichang – Kala is considered a very important historical heritage and therefore this object is under the auspices of UNESCO.
The old part of the city, Ichan-Kala, is surrounded on all sides by powerful defensive walls and gates from four different sides. The inner city simply “buried” in the monuments. They can be found at every turn. Minaret Kalta Minar, perhaps the most unusual of all the monuments. His appearance, he immediately catches the eye. At first glance it may seem that such an interesting form is an architectural idea; however, this is not at all the case. The minaret planned to build a grandiose size, as evidenced by the thickness of its trunk. But suddenly the ruler died, whose idea was the construction of a giant minaret. After his death, the construction of the structure was discontinued, and the minaret remained only half built.
No less interesting historical monuments are Ata Darvoz, Muhammad Amin Khan madrasah, Juma mosque and many other architectural masterpieces located in the old part of the city. You can look at all the sights of the city by photo of Khiva, but it’s better to visit this wonderful city.
Remarkable is the fact that people living in Khiva honor the skills of their ancestors very much. Like many centuries ago, this city remains one of the largest craft centers of Uzbekistan.
Visit this beautiful center of architecture is at least because it is one of the most unique and ancient cities in the world. Going to rest in Uzbekistan, by all means glance in Khiva!
